About TAXA Outdoors
TAXA Outdoors is a manufacturer of towable 'habitat' campers based in Houston, Texas. Founded in 2014 by Garrett Finney, a former architect at NASA's Habitability Design Center, the company builds steel-and-aluminum-frame towable trailers — including the Cricket, Mantis, TigerMoth, and Woolly Bear — designed to be light enough for EVs and daily-driver vehicles while remaining off-road capable. TAXA was acquired by the Growth Fund of private-equity firm L Catterton, alongside RX3 Growth Partners, in March 2022.
How they build
Designed by an architect rather than a traditional RV builder, TAXA's habitats are meant to keep occupants connected to the outdoors instead of sealed off from it, combining rugged steel-and-aluminum construction with open, convertible interior layouts.
