About Storyteller Overland
Storyteller Overland is a manufacturer of Class B camper vans (its MODE line) and expedition trucks (its GXV line), based in Birmingham, Alabama. It was launched in 2018 by Jeffrey Hunter along with co-founders Lee Conn and Andrew Cooley, building its first prototypes on Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit chassis. The company has since grown into a broader adventure-lifestyle group that includes the acquired Global Expedition Vehicles brand and the Flarespace Living and nVader/EVICTUS accessory lines, and it sells through a nationwide network of authorized dealers. In May 2026, founder Jeffrey Hunter transitioned to the role of Chairman and Neil Grimmer, previously the company's Chief Strategy Officer, became CEO.
How they build
Founder Jeffrey Hunter has said the company set out to be authentic, spread joy, and invite people to discover a more adventurous life, building vehicles as a platform for community and shared experience rather than as an end in themselves.
