About Sherpa Trailers

Sherpa Trailers designs and builds off-road-capable teardrop trailers (Bigfoot, Yeti, and Expedition Cargo models) in Libby, Montana. The company was founded in 2014 by Adam Montgomery, Bruce Weatherby, and Joan Oakland, who bought a former auto-body shop and pivoted to trailer building when bodywork demand was slow. Every trailer is manufactured on-site in Libby by a small team that includes American military veterans, and the company markets its trailers as 100% Made in the USA.

How they build

The company is named for Sherpa mountain guides, whom co-founder Joan Oakland described as the inspiration: the trailers are meant to "safely get people to their destination and home," built rugged enough for pavement, back roads, and gravel alike.
