About Outside Van
Outside Van builds custom Mercedes-Benz Sprinter-based Class B adventure vans from its headquarters in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2007 by a builder who had spent over 30 years converting vans for his own adventure lifestyle, the company grew into a full-time business with a team of more than 75 employees producing over 100 vans a year. In 2021 Outside Van was acquired by Fox Factory and now operates as a division of Fox Factory Vehicles, continuing to design and fabricate most components in-house.
How they build
Outside Van says it developed its build process independent of the traditional RV industry, engineering an in-house 'infrastructure kit' chassis system so vans hold up to heavy, high-action outdoor use rather than optimizing for volume production.
