Four Wheel Campers designs and builds welded-aluminum-frame pop-up truck campers and toppers at its factory in Woodland, California. Dave Rowe founded the company in 1972 in Colorado, pioneering the pop-up, aluminum-framed truck camper format now closely associated with the overlanding and off-road community. Ownership has changed several times since: Rowe sold to Jack Billings in the 1980s (who relocated the company to Woodland, CA by 1989), Billings sold to Ben Burnett in the 1990s, and Tom and Celeste Hanagan owned and ran the company from 2001 until they sold it in 2016 to Salt Creek Capital, a private equity firm, which installed executive partner Robert Vogl as CEO. Four Wheel Campers sells its Topper, Classic slide-in, flatbed, and special-edition campers through a network of authorized dealers.
