About Fleetwood RV

Fleetwood is one of the oldest and best-known names in American RVs. John C. Crean founded Coach Specialties Company in Southern California in 1950 making venetian blinds for travel trailers, renamed it Fleetwood (after the Cadillac Fleetwood) around 1953, and reincorporated as Fleetwood Enterprises in 1957. The company entered the RV business in 1964 by acquiring Terry Coach Industries and grew into a Fortune 500 giant spanning motorhomes, towables and manufactured housing. Its defining product was the Bounder, personally designed by Crean and introduced in 1985 as the first Class A with basement storage — at its peak, one in ten new motorhomes sold in America was a Bounder. Fleetwood Enterprises entered Chapter 11 in the 2009 downturn, and its motorhome business was acquired by American Industrial Partners, re-emerging as Fleetwood RV with headquarters and manufacturing in Decatur, Indiana. The business became part of Allied Specialty Vehicles in 2010, which was renamed REV Group in 2015 (NYSE: REVG since 2017). Fleetwood RV is now the flagship motorhome brand of REV Recreation Group, alongside sister brands American Coach and Holiday Rambler. Today Fleetwood builds gas and diesel Class A, Class C and Super C motorhomes — including the Bounder, Flair, Fortis, Frontier, Discovery and Discovery LXE, flagship Palisade, and Altitude — on purpose-built platforms: the Freedom Bridge Freightliner XCM chassis for diesels and the Power Platform Ford chassis for gas coaches, sold through a dealer network across North America.
